Scale Up

‘Scale Up’ is a new project I started at the beginning of this week.  I have been given a product – a pair of pliers – and the brief is to create:

– a 3D visual appearance model representing the exact form and function of the object that is four times the size of the original product.  The model can be produced from any appropriate medium (wood, metal, plastic, resin, etc) with any means of production.

– a CAD drawing based on accurate measurements of your selected product.  It must be fully dimensioned but does not have to be fully rendered.

These are the exact pair of pliers I have to recreate to four times the size in model form and CAD.  This project is about copying so I will have to pick up all the details such as the paint marks, etc on the scaled up model.

During this six week project, I will be learning the correct methods of layering, profiling, sanding, spraying and laquering models in various materials.
